Frequently Asked Questions

What is NOW or NEVER about?

It is a movement consisting of organized group of Overseas Pakistanis and Pakistani Professional Groups to approach human Rights activists, Democratic political Leaders, and Journalists of International fame to take a stand against the human rights violations in the country as well as aberrations of rule of law and the Constitution. It differentiates itself by emphasizing action and impactful thinking rather than mere lip service or intellectual dialogues.

What is the Plan for the Pakistan Trip?

Dr. Nasar Shahid, has laid out an ambitious plan to bring a thousand overseas Pakistanis in Islamabad for a week, on September 22, 2023. His vision extends beyond mere numbers; it’s about organizing a formidable force for change.  Dr. Nasar firmly believes that this collective presence will empower overseas Pakistanis to engage directly with politicians and government representatives, making their voices heard on critical issues such as human rights, the rule of law, and constitutional integrity.  By dispelling fear among overseas Pakistanis, it inspires courage within the hearts of those living in Pakistan, knowing that they have unwavering support from abroad. Together, they aim to transform concern into action, advocating for a brighter, more just Pakistan.
The plan for our Pakistan trip is multifaceted and driven by our commitment to bring about positive change in Pakistan. Here’s an overview of the key aspects of our plan:
  1. Supporting People in Pakistan: One of the primary objectives of our Pakistan trip is to support the people living in Pakistan. We aim to stand in solidarity with them and promote an environment that upholds human rights, free speech, and constitutional democracy.
  2. Engaging with Stakeholders: We plan to engage with a wide range of stakeholders in Pakistan, including human rights activists, legal experts, the general public, and various other groups. These engagements provide us with valuable insights, strengthen our connections, and contribute to our mission.
  3. Fostering Fearlessness: We seek to subvert the atmosphere of fear and apprehension that exists in Pakistan. By traveling to Pakistan in a large diaspora, we intend to demonstrate that collective action can overcome fear and create a positive environment for change.
  4. Advocating for Our Values: The trip is an opportunity to advocate for our core values, including human rights, the rule of law, and constitutional integrity. We engage in dialogues, conferences, and meetings with influential figures in Pakistan to promote these values.
  5. Safety Measures: We prioritize safety during the trip. Several safety measures are in place to ensure a secure and successful visit. These measures include traveling in large numbers as a group, notifying US/International authorities, informing the international media, and maintaining continuous communication.
  6. Non-Partisanship: It’s crucial to note that the Now or Never Movement is a non-partisan entity. While advocating for our values, we do not align with any political party or agenda. Our focus remains on human rights, the rule of law, and constitutional democracy.

When Does NoN Plan to Travel to Pakistan?

There is a scheduled trip to Pakistan, with the diaspora expected to arrive in Lahore by September 22, 2023, for approximately one week. This trip presents a significant opportunity to engage with Pakistan’s current issues and work towards our mission’s objectives.

What Did NoN Achieve in the Previous Trip?

During the previous trip, a group of several dozen members of the diaspora traveled to Islamabad and Lahore. They held multiple conventions and meetings with the President of Pakistan, constitutional lawyers, renowned journalists, legal bar associations, and engaged with political leadership. The trip was welcomed by several local groups and laid the foundation for future endeavors. These engagements helped us build connections and initiate dialogue on important issues in Pakistan.

How Is Safety Ensured While Traveling to Pakistan?

Safety is a top priority during our Pakistan trips. We have successfully conducted safe trips in the past, and we take several measures to ensure the safety of our members. These measures include traveling in large numbers as a group, notifying US/International authorities, informing the international media about our presence, and maintaining continuous communication. These precautions help mitigate potential safety issues and create a secure environment for our activities.
